TRIP DESCRIPTION
Slovenia is a tiny piece of heaven on earth, stated George W. Bush, the former president of the USA. This time our path will lead us to the Upper Carniola region once again, as we will visit Bled, Bohinj and Radovljica during this one day trip.
RADOVLJICA
Radovljica, nestled in the enchanting landscape of Slovenia, exudes a captivating charm that seamlessly blends history and nature. This idyllic town, with its medieval roots, boasts well-preserved architecture that harks back to its rich past. The cobblestone streets wind through a tapestry of charming buildings, revealing glimpses of its storied heritage at every turn. The town's crowning jewel, the imposing Radovljica Castle, stands as a testament to its historical significance, while the tranquil Radovna River meandering through the surrounding lush countryside adds a touch of serene beauty. Radovljica also holds a special place in the hearts of chocolate enthusiasts. This charming Slovenian enclave is home to the prestigious Radovljica Chocolate Festival, a yearly celebration that tantalizes the senses with an array of exquisite chocolate creations.
As Radovljica will be our first stop of the day, you will have the chance to have your morning coffee there together with some snacks, maybe even chocolate.
BOHINJ
Our second stop, lake Bohinj, cradled within the embrace of the Julian Alps in Slovenia, is a pristine gem of natural beauty that casts an enchanting spell on all who encounter its splendor. With its crystal-clear turquoise waters mirroring the towering peaks that surround it, the lake stands as a serene sanctuary of tranquility. As the largest permanent lake in Slovenia, Bohinj exudes an air of majesty and seclusion, drawing adventurers and nature enthusiasts alike to its shores. At lake Bohinj you will have some free time to explore the close surroundings of the lake and have some amazing ice cream at the oldest ice cream shop around lake Bohinj.
BLED
We will continue our journey towards Bled, the famous Slovenian city and also the tourist spot, where its visitors can admire Slovenias only island!
Lake Bled is a captivating blend of natural grandeur and enchanting history. The iconic Bled Island, crowned by the fairy-tale Bled Castle perched on a rocky precipice, commands the attention of all who gaze upon this breathtaking scene. The emerald waters of the lake cradle the island and reflect the snow-capped peaks in a mesmerizing dance of colors. Visitors are lured by the allure of rowing traditional Pletna boats to the island, where the 17th-century Church of the Assumption awaits with its wishing bell and a sense of timeless serenity, all that is needed to reach the bell, is a climb up the 99 stone made stairs.
